Lysimachia vulgaris, commonly known as Yellow Loosestrife, is a tall, robust perennial that brings bold structure and vibrant color to damp gardens and wetland areas. In mid to late summer, it produces dense clusters of bright yellow, star-shaped flowers along its upright stems, creating a striking contrast against its lance-shaped green leaves. Its cheerful blooms are highly attractive to pollinators, especially bees, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Lysimachia vulgaris prefers moist, fertile soils and is particularly well-suited to pond margins, rain gardens, and naturalized wet meadows. It spreads through underground rhizomes to form bold, architectural clumps that provide vertical interest and seasonal drama. Hardy and low-maintenance, this native species is ideal for adding long-lasting color and texture to water-side plantings and for supporting local biodiversity in wetter areas of the landscape.
